Implants

An implant is an artificial root and is placed in the jawbone. If there is not enough jaw bone, artificial bone should be added. The procedure of sinuslifting is technically a difficult procedure and often unavoidable. It has been successfully performed under local anesthesia in our practice since 2004.

An implant is an artificial root that is placed in the jaw. Most implants look like a screw and are made of titanium. The implant is a strong base for a crown, bridge, or dentures.

In general, implant placement can be very good in the normal practice environment and does not require hospitalization.

An implant means a relatively large sacrifice in treatment time and costs, but if one takes into account the comfort, convenience and durability, it is a very good treatment alternative.

Sinuslift

A common procedure when placing implants in the upper jaw is the sinus lift, or raising the bottom of the sinus. We are probably the only private practice in Leuven that uses this technique.

The sinus is located in the area of the maxillary molars. Often there is not enough vertical jaw bone in the upper jaw to provide sufficient support for the implants.

When teeth are removed / lost, the jaw height becomes increasingly limited.

During a sinus lift procedure is artificial bone added to the bottom of sinus bone height to obtain a total of at least 10 mm.

Bone grafting

When a tooth is removed, the shape of your jaw changes. The jaw often becomes narrower and lower after a few months. As a result, it is not always possible to place an implant immediately.

If there is not enough bone, we will start building bone before placing the implant. Your jaw can be widened and / or raised. Sometimes it is also necessary to fill the bottom of the paranasal sinus with bone
